Perry was born on July 25, 1968 in Chicago In Illinois, she was the child of Laurie Metcalf Perry and Jeff Perry. In the ABC sitcom Roseanne (as seen by flashback), her mother played Jackie Harris in two of Perry's first TV roles. She did not pursue acting as a career until after she had reached the age of adulthood due to her parents being worried about the detrimental effects that stress could be a cause of.
